Red Frog Beach

Red Frog Beach is one of the easiest and most popular beach trips from Bocas Town, recommended for guests who want a scenic jungle arrival, a wide sandy beach, and the option of food and drinks nearby. It offers a good mix of tropical scenery and convenience, but usually feels busier and more developed than the quieter beaches in the area.

Atmosphere

Red Frog Beach has a broad sandy shoreline backed by palms and dense tropical vegetation, with a setting that feels lush and scenic while still being one of the more established beach spots in the archipelago.

It is more lively and accessible than the more remote beaches on Bastimentos, especially once day visitors begin arriving.

What to Expect

This is a good choice for guests who want a straightforward beach day with a bit more comfort and convenience around them. The beach is wide enough for long walks and relaxed beach time, and there are nearby places for drinks and lunch, making it easy to spend a few hours without needing to bring much.

Water conditions can sometimes be pleasant for swimming, but they depend on the sea, so the beach is best enjoyed with some flexibility rather than expecting perfectly calm water every day.

Red Frog Beach is also a practical starting point for guests who want to continue exploring Bastimentos on foot, including the trail toward Polo Beach.

Good to Know

Red Frog Beach is reached via Bahía Honda by water taxi, usually from Bocas Town or Old Bank, followed by a short jungle walk of about 10–15 minutes.

The trail crosses private land, and an access fee of around $5 is generally charged.

Because it is one of the best-known beaches in the area, it can feel busy on weekends, during high season, and when boat tours arrive. Visitors looking for a quieter experience usually do better by arriving earlier or walking farther along the beach once they get there.

As with other popular day-trip beaches, it is best not to leave valuables unattended.
