This is a fully guided walk that usually starts near Bluff Beach, often around the Bom Bom Beach Bar area. The route first follows the beach, then continues across private land before heading further inland into the forest. The walk covers around 3 to 3.5 kilometres over roughly 3 to 3.5 hours, with frequent stops for wildlife sightings, interesting plants, and explanations throughout.
Because the tour is led by a biologist with a doctorate, it offers much more than simple wildlife spotting. Animals, plants, behaviour, habitat, and small details that would otherwise be easy to miss are all part of the experience, and there is plenty of room for questions along the way.
The walk is moderately active. Most of the route is straightforward, but there are some elevation changes, and the last stretch can be slippery at times. The final reward is a scenic viewpoint at the end.
The main highlights are usually poison dart frogs and sloths, which are very commonly seen on this route. Other regular sightings include tropical birds, agoutis, geckos, ants, squirrels, and different kinds of birds of prey.
Depending on the day and conditions, guests may also spot monkeys or toucans. Less common, but still possible, are snakes and iguanas.
The route also passes through tropical rainforest, which adds another strong element to the experience.
This tour is usually offered in English, Spanish, and German and normally runs in small groups of around 2 to 8 participants. Private arrangements are also possible.
Shoes with good grip are recommended. Rubber boots can be provided by prior arrangement if needed, and walking sticks are available for the slippery section. It is best to bring water, sun protection, and cash for payment.
The trail can be muddy, especially after rain, and prolonged wet weather can affect conditions. In that case, the tour may be rescheduled. There are no toilets along the route.
The walk can work for children by prior arrangement and is often also manageable for older guests with good general mobility.
Bookings can be arranged by WhatsApp or email. Earlier booking gives the best chance of availability, though last-minute requests may still work depending on the schedule.
Typical start times are usually in the morning between 9:00 and 10:00 or in the afternoon between 14:00 and 15:00. Private tours are possible by arrangement.
A minimum of 2 participants is required.
