Pinguinos sits right on Playa Santa Catalina, the main town beach — the only restaurant in Santa Catalina with sand this close to the tables. The same Italian-Panamanian family has run it for years, and the pace shows it: nobody rushes a table, and the terrace fills in gradually as the sun starts to drop.
The kitchen pairs Italian technique with local seafood — pasta with fish, or a whole grilled catch served with rice and beans, both usually around $10. Portions are generous rather than plated for show. Mornings are quieter, closer to a local breakfast spot; dinner is when the terrace fills and the sunset crowd arrives.
It's a small kitchen covering a lot of tables, so service can slow down on busy nights — the trade-off for the only beachfront seat in town. Reservations through Instagram are worth sending ahead if sunset timing matters.
