Things To Do
Surf season around Bocas runs roughly from December through March, when Bluff Beach and a few reef breaks pick up consistent swell.
Snorkeling trips typically combine two or three stops in a single boat outing, since the best visibility spots sit a distance apart. Dive operators run out of a couple of shops in Bocas Town, mostly heading to sites near Bastimentos and Solarte. Conditions change quickly with rain, so operators often adjust routes the same morning.

Bocas del Toro is one of the most varied surf regions in the Caribbean, offering waves for nearly every level. Depending on swell, wind, and season, conditions range from soft beginner-friendly waves to fast, powerful reef breaks for experienced surfers only.

Swimming in Bocas depends heavily on the season — some spots are calm year-round, while others become dangerous during surf season.

Bocas del Toro offers some of the Caribbean's most accessible diving. While you won't find the massive pelagic action of Panama's Pacific coast, you'll discover colorful coral reefs, underwater caves, wrecks and a surprising variety of marine life — all within short boat rides from town.
