Strong coffee, homemade cakes, and a menu that carries well beyond breakfast. Right across from the water taxis in the centre of Bocas Town, Café Luca works for a quick takeaway before a day on the water, a few hours with a laptop, or lunch that ends with a slice of carrot cake.

Mornings start early here. By eight o'clock, tables fill with a mix of travellers waiting for water taxis, locals grabbing coffee on the way to work, and a few people opening their laptops for the morning. The pace stays relaxed throughout the day, with breakfast turning into lunch and coffee breaks stretching well into the afternoon.
The Breakfast Burrito has earned a bit of a reputation as a post-party breakfast in Bocas. Eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese and fries wrapped into one meal — usually paired with a strong coffee after a late night in town.
The Bocas Bucket follows the same logic: generous, filling and difficult to finish alone before noon. On quieter mornings, many tables lean towards Eggs Benedict instead.
The homemade cakes deserve attention as well. Carrot cake, maracuyá cheesecake and chocolate cake often disappear long before closing time.
The café sits directly opposite the main water taxi dock, making it an easy stop before heading to Bastimentos, Carenero or Solarte. Their takeaway options work particularly well for day trips when you want breakfast or lunch sorted before getting on a boat.
Reliable Wi-Fi, plenty of seating and an all-day menu also make it one of the more practical places in Bocas Town to spend a few working hours between activities.
Holiday weekends sometimes bring special menus and cocktail nights, particularly around Panamanian celebrations. If cake is your priority, arriving before lunchtime usually gives you the best selection.
