PANAMA'S FIRST BEACH RESORT · 1H FROM PANAMA CITY

Coronado

SCROLL

WELCOME TO

Panama's original beach resort, built around golf courses and gated communities rather than a town square.

Coronado was Panama's first resort development, and it still reads that way: a string of gated communities along the coastal highway, built up around golf clubs and beach clubs rather than a walkable center. It draws a mostly older, established crowd, many of them expats who've settled here long-term, more than travelers passing through. For a visit, that means a long stretch of beach, a golf club that's genuinely the heart of the place, and a handful of casual restaurants and beach bars rather than a big night scene. Most people give it a day or two, often as a stop on the way up to the cooler hills of El Valle de Antón.

FIELD NOTES

Good to Know

01

Plan to drive or take a taxi

Coronado is spread along the highway in gated communities, not built around a walkable center — arrange transport before you arrive.

02

Book golf ahead if that's the plan

Golf is the main draw here for most visitors — contact Coronado Golf & Country Club directly to check availability and pricing before you go.

03

Nightlife is low-key

A handful of casual beach bars and restaurants, not a big scene — set expectations accordingly.

04

Easy to pair with El Valle de Antón

The cooler mountain town of El Valle de Antón is about an hour further inland, and works well as a next stop or day trip.

Dry Season

Dec–Apr. Clearer skies and calmer seas, the busier season on this coast.

Green Season

May–Nov. Afternoon showers most days, mornings usually clear, fewer visitors.

Panama's Pacific coast follows the same two-season pattern everywhere — dry season is busier and pricier, green season quieter.
